Named after Sullivan Island in South Carolina, this is one of three mesh tops that are part of our collaborative mesh collection with Dannielle Owens-Reid. Dan's love of mesh was the inspiration behind the collection combined with our quest for awesome androgynous cuts and fits that can compliment any Outplay lover. The Sullivan is available in low and high compression options for that extra bit of security and comfort.

About the name Sullivan, Dan says, "My home is on Isle of Palms and right across a little bridge is Sullivan's Island - this is kind of the marker, like I get to Sullivan's and I am like OK I DON'T HAVE TO STOP TO PEE I'LL BE HOME IN TEN MINUTES. It's like the ultimate going-home-landmark. It's not a beach that I spent much time on as a kid, but my first crush lived on Sullivan's and my favorite job was on Sullivan's. There's a kid I've known since they were 7 years old - they're like 50 now or something I have no idea how kid ages work. REGARDLESS, they're from my hometown, I'm close with their whole family, and we've kept up with each other a bit over the years. They sent me a message a few years ago to be like 'omg you're wearing a bow tie I love it" and started to explore dressing more masculine. And then a year or so ago a message saying that I really inspired them to figure out their identity. They started going by Sullivan and it kind of made the island and the name mean even more to me."

When picking a size, we recommend you use our size chart for guidance. Our sizes aren't exactly like other traditional clothing brand sizes. If you're looking for maximum compression and you fall between sizes, we recommend you go with the smaller size. Remember, this is not a binder, it's a compression top designed and made to swim and be active in.
Size & Fit Guide

How do I know my size?

It took us a lot of research and a lot of testing on a lot of bodies in different shapes and sizes to come up with the sizing and fit for all of Outplay’s swimwear and sportswear. As much as we believe we’ve created really well thought-out and meticulously measured sizing system for our gender neutral clothing, we know not every style is right for every body type. Because of this, we’re constantly adding new cuts and styles giving you as many options possible for any fit. As we continue to grow, we will be adding more styles, sizes and designs that can fit your body and give you the comfort and confidence you’ve come to expect from Outplay.

All measurements refer to body size, not garment dimensions. Because our sizing is different from most traditional clothing companies, we suggest you use our size charts as a guide. The size you normally wear doesn’t necessarily translate into Outplay sizing exactly the same.

If you’re between sizes, we suggest you size up for t-shirts and sweatshirts, and go for the smaller size for sweatpants and tights.

Compression

When it comes to compression tops, it all depends on the level of compression you are looking for. If you’re looking for maximum compression and you fall between sizes, go for the smaller size. Always keep in mind our compression tops do stretch as they are made of spandex and spandex mixes and other stretchable fabrics. They are not traditional binders and their hold will never be as pronounced or as rigid as that of a traditional binder. They are made to be worn while swimming and being active, and can be worn for long periods of time without causing any harm to your body.

How to measure yourself

We always recommend you get someone to help you take your measurements. It’s easier and you get more accurate and precise measurements this way. If you take your own measurements, we recommend you do it in front of a mirror so you can have a better view of how you’re measuring everything all the way around.

CHEST:

With your arms relaxed and down your side, measure around the fullest part of your chest. Make sure to keep the measuring tape horizontal. Get a full measurement without tightening the measuring tape around you.

WAIST:

Measure around your natural waistline (the narrowest point of your upper body). Make sure to keep the measuring tape horizontal and don’t tighten it.

HIPS:

Measure around your hip bones which are at the widest point of your hip section.

INSEAM:

Measure the inside length of your leg, from your crotch down.

*inseam refers to the length of the garment, from the crotch seam to the hem. You can find style specific inseam details on each product page description.
**These are sizing guidelines. Please take your body measurements to determine you most accurate size.

If you’re on the borderline between two sizes, order the smaller size for a tighter fit or stronger compression. Choose the larger size for a looser fit. When it comes to compression tops a looser fit will not allow the compression materials to do their job.
