If you're looking for a swim top or sports top, you're going to need to have accurate chest measurements in order to find the best size for you. Here's a simple guide on how to take your chest measurements.
If you want to buy a swim top or sports top, you'll need to know your chest size in order to get a well fitting top. In order to get the compression you're looking for in your new Outplay top, you will need to make sure you get the right size for you.
To find your chest size, all you need is a measuring tape and a pencil to write the number down. The best tape measure is made of soft material that makes it easy to wrap around your body. If you don't have a measuring tape, you can instead use a string to wrap around your torso. You can later measure the string with a ruler. Recruit a friend for the most accurate results. If you're able to have someone else help you take these measurements, even better since measurements are more accurate when the measuring tape is correctly placed all around your torso and you arms are kept close to your body.
We recommend you aren't wearing a binder or bra when you're taking your measurements. Try to be as natural as possible and have the least amount of fabrics over your body. Any additional materials you're wearing the moment you're taking your measurements can add (or subtract) inches (or centimeters) and can change the size you really should be ordering.
Once you have the measuring tape, stand straight with a relaxed pose, letting your arms hang naturally at your sides. Keep things neutral; don't arch your back. Loop the tape around your body and measure the widest part of your torso. This is usually right over your nipples. Make sure to position the measuring tape so that it is horizontal to the ground, and falls just under your armpits.
Bring it around your back so that the ends come together in front, across the widest part of your chest, over your nipples. Make sure the measuring tape is even all around and is closely held to your body without being held too tight. Don't stick your chest out or exhale; just stand normally. Don't flex your muscles either. Also, make sure the tape measure is not twisted and is laying flat against your body. Try to keep your arms down as best as possible. Your measurements can be slightly inaccurate if your arms are raised.
If you're taking your own measurements, take a look in the mirror to find your measurement. The place where the end of the tape measure meets with the other side is where you'll find the number that indicates your chest size.
